Your independent agent can help you navigate through several options and discount programs that may lower the premium on the boat segment of your Universal Security Policy.

• Loss-Free Discounts - A 5% credit applies to your total boat premium if your boat and trailer have been insured by Encompass Insurance for at least the last three years with no losses.  
• 8-Month Navigation - An additional 10% discount is available if your boat is in dry-dock for four or more months of each year.  
• Boater Training - Are you a member of the U.S. Power Squadron or the Coast Guard Auxiliary? Have you completed boater safety tests administered by these two organizations? If you answer "yes," be sure to talk with your independent agent about qualifying for a 5% discount.  
• New Boats - Hull premiums are discounted 5% for brand new boats.  
• Diesel Engines - If your powerboat has a diesel engine, you can receive a 10% credit.  
• Fire Extinguishing Systems - A 5% credit is offered for boats with inboard gas motors and automatic fire extinguishing systems. Boats with inboard diesel engines and automatic fire extinguishing systems can earn a 2.5% credit.  
• Navigation Equipment - Talk with your independent agent about credits available for VHF ship-to-shore radio telephones, depth finders, vapor detection systems, RADAR or long-range navigation equipment. 

Of course, you can always lower your premium by raising deductibles or selecting certain limits.
